Chuadanga DC Ecopark

Chuadanga DC ECO Park

Mr. Nafar Chandrapal Chowdhury, the zamindar of Nadia Estate, planted mangoes in a large area of Shivanagar in Damurhuda Upazila in 1895.  Hundreds of palm trees were planted in rows on both sides of the entrance to enhance the beauty of the garden.  Nafar Chandra Pal Chowdhury passed away in 1940.  His two sons migrated to India after partition in 1947.  The garden later came under government ownership.  Due to lack of maintenance for many years, the garden became almost treeless and  dense jungle was created and became the sanctuary of the Proletarian Party.  After joining as Upazila Nirbahi Officer in 2013, a plan was adopted to renovate the gardens and water bodies to protect government resources and increase government revenue.  To enhance the beauty of the garden, there are more than 12,036 native and exotic fruit, forest and medicinal plants of 113 species.
